'An economic development issue': Atlanta real estate leaders tackle housing crisis
Press Release

If balancing gentrification with preservation is the Holy Grail of urban planning, that quest is most intense in long-disinvested neighborhoods around the BeltLine. This week the Chronicle is devoting its cover to Atlanta BeltLine Inc. buying a portion of the Annie E. Casey Foundation site on the Southside Trail.
The purchase was part of the BeltLine's land-banking strategy. Essentially, the organization buys prime sites and preserves them for affordable housing along the corridor before market rate apartment developers can swoop in.
Previous ULI Atlanta chair, Marc Pollack, co-founder of RangeWater Real Estate, is one of the most active apartment developers on the BeltLine. Pollack also helped create The Atlanta Affordable Housing Fund.
