CHARLESTON, S.C. (Sept. 27, 2021) – The Merchant in Charleston has won a top consumer accolade from Charleston locals: A Charleston’s Choice award from the readers of The Post and Courier.

“We’re so proud of our Charleston team,” said Tracy Bowers, Managing Director of Property Management at RangeWater Real Estate. “We’ve put our heart and soul into making this community fit into Charleston and reflect the neighborhood. This award is a recognition of our hard work and it means so much because it’s from Charlestonians.”

The newspaper asks its readers to select the best of the best in the community each year, having readers vote for their favorite businesses, places and things to do. The #charlestonschoice awards are in their sixth year. This is the first award for The Merchant, an apartment home community that opened in 2020.

“The secret is now out,” said Kandi Rice, the community director at The Merchant. “We knew we were a great place to live, and now everyone else knows about us as well! We’re so excited to get this honor. We hope people will stop by to see us if they are looking for a new place to call home."

Located on a former steel yard in the heart of NoMo (North Morrison) at 102 Sottile St., The Merchant was the first project developed from the ground up by RangeWater in Charleston, with 231 luxurious apartments, from studios to two bedrooms, across 10 buildings. The project’s design was approved by the Charleston Board of Architectural Review, meeting the city’s extremely high standard for design and quality.

The community’s unique footprint has well-appointed amenities and is a beautiful mecca for artists, creatives and professionals.

Residents enjoy a resort-style pool with a fire pit lounge and outdoor grilling stations, a market-style resident lounge with farm tables and a social kitchen and Wi-Fi throughout, a letter writing nook, a pet spa, a game room, a modern fitness center with Echelon bikes, a yoga and barre studio, a bike room. The property also has an onsite event planner.

The Merchant is near the Charleston Innovation District, Revelry Brewing, Butcher & Bee, Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co. & Taproom and Lewis BBQ among many other eateries and shops, and is just minutes from the airport.

Residents have a choice of two designer-finish palettes when choosing their home. All apartments have granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances, 9- or 12-foot ceilings, a balcony, washer/dryer and other high-end design features.

The Merchant is one of several communities in Charleston that RangeWater manages, including The Apartments at Shade Tree, Simmons Park, which won Community of the Year from the Charleston Apartment Association and The Factory at Garco, recognized for best renovation.

Rice says homes still are available for lease. To see floor plans and photo galleries, go to www.themerchantcharleston.com  or find The Merchant on Facebook and Instagram.
